The Real ID deadline be comin’ up real quick, ya know? Like, starting May 7, ya gotta have an official Real ID if ya wanna fly. But hey, how much are these ID cards gonna cost us, huh?
So, apparently, according to the Secretary of State’s Office, these cards gonna set ya back $30, which is the same as a regular ol’ Illinois driver’s license or ID card. Pretty steep, if ya ask me.
If ya wanna check if ya already got a Real ID, just look for a star in the right-hand corner of ya card. If ya happen to be in the Chicago area and wanna get one, ya can head to the “Real ID Supercenter” in the Loop or any other Illinois DMV spot. But like, do we really need this Real ID thing right now? Alexi Giannoulias, the Illinois Secretary of State, said if ya ain’t flyin’ after May 7, maybe hold off on gettin’ one for now. Seems like the lines at the DMV are gettin’ longer and longer, so if ya ain’t flyin’ in May, chill out and wait a bit.
