Welcome to Madison Square Wellness Center, where the incredible journey of high school basketball star Johnny Jackson unfolds. Set in a converted New Jersey garage just across the river from the famed arena, this space is more than just a gym – it’s a sanctuary for health and healing. After being diagnosed with Stage 4B Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Johnny’s determination to overcome cancer and continue playing basketball is truly inspiring.
In August 2024, the news of his diagnosis threatened Jackson’s senior season with the Ridgewood High School varsity basketball team. However, he faced this challenge head-on, treating cancer as a rival to defeat. Despite undergoing 12 chemo sessions, Johnny not only played in every game but also set a scoring record for the school and led his team to victory in the section championship. His resilience and strength in the face of adversity have captured the hearts of many, including the Garden of Dreams Foundation and “George to the Rescue.”
The transformation of Jackson’s garage into a wellness center by “George to the Rescue” was a gesture of kindness and support for the entire Jackson family. From oil-stained floors to a spa-like ambiance with workout equipment and spa amenities, the space now serves as a place for physical and emotional healing. The impact of this gesture on Johnny and his family cannot be understated, as it stands as a symbol of hope and community support during their toughest times.
