Family and friends gathered to pay tribute to Hussain Farhat, a Chicago tow truck driver who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run accident on Christmas Eve in Wisconsin. The vigil, attended by over 100 people, was held to honor Farhat’s memory and the impact he had on those around him.
Remembering a Dedicated Provider
Farhat, who had recently moved to Chicago to escape the conflict in Gaza, was working diligently to support his family as a tow truck operator when the fatal incident occurred on Interstate 94 in Waukesha. Described as the “father of the village” by many, Farhat was known for his kindness and willingness to help others without hesitation.
Tragic Circumstances
Reports indicate that Farhat was in the process of towing a disabled vehicle when he was struck by a speeding minivan traveling at around 80 miles per hour. The driver fled the scene but later turned himself in to authorities, facing charges of hit-and-run resulting in a fatality.
A Heartbreaking Loss
Farhat’s sudden passing has left his family devastated, especially as he leaves behind a wife, two children, and a third child expected to arrive soon. His friend Sal Arman expressed the deep sorrow felt by those who knew Farhat, highlighting the immense sacrifice he made in pursuit of a better future for his loved ones.
“It is incredibly tragic to see someone leave behind a difficult situation to seek a better life, only to have that journey cut short in such a senseless way,” Arman lamented. “Farhat’s dedication and unwavering commitment to his family will always be remembered.”
Now, as Farhat’s loved ones grapple with their loss, they are preparing to bid their final farewells at a funeral service scheduled for Friday. The community continues to mourn the loss of a beloved member, taken too soon in a heartbreaking turn of events.
