In New York City, the Lunar New Year celebrations are in full swing, with the much-anticipated 27th annual Lunar New Year Parade taking place in Chinatown on Sunday. The vibrant parade, commemorating the Year of the Snake, will wind its way through the bustling streets of the neighborhood, culminating near Sara D. Roosevelt Park on Broome Street. The festivities will kick off at 11:30 a.m. and continue until 3:30 p.m., with a lively festival and an array of booths lining Bayard Street between Mulberry Street and Mott Street.
Street Closures and Route Details
As the parade weaves its way through the heart of Chinatown, several streets will be closed to accommodate the revelry. For the formation of the parade, Mott Street between Broome Street and Canal Street, as well as Hester Street between Bowery and Mulberry Street, will be closed. The parade route will take participants and spectators along Mott Street between Canal Street and Chatham Square, East Broadway between Chatham Square and Forsyth Street, Eldridge Street between East Broadway and Hester Street, Hester Street between Eldridge Street and Forsyth Street, Forsyth Street between Hester Street and Grand Street, and Chatham Square between Mott Street and East Broadway. Finally, for the dispersal of the parade, Forsyth Street between Grand Street and Delancey Street, as well as Broome Street between Forsyth Street and Eldridge Street, will be closed off.

On Saturday, Brooklyn will host a Lunar New Year marketplace from 2 to 9 p.m., providing another opportunity for residents and visitors to immerse themselves in the rich cultural traditions of the holiday.
