It’s like, totally safe to say that Kody Clemens made his old man proud on Saturday. Kody, who happens to be the son of former MLB superstar and long-time Red Sox pitcher Roger Clemens, smacked a dinger for the Twins during the sixth inning of Saturday’s game against Boston at Fenway Park.
“Man, it was amazing,” Roger said, chilling in the box with his wifey — who is also Kody’s mom, Debbie — and Kody’s wife, Jessica, during a rain delay.
“Just think about it, right? I mean, I put myself in his shoes — even though he’s my kid and all. He’s out here at Fenway, trying to show off what he’s got. Hitting a home run would be the ultimate flex, you know? And then bam, he goes up there in a clutch moment and just smashes it out of the park. Such a dope moment, and I’m glad we’re here to see it.”
After Kody sent that ball into orbit, some fan chucked it back onto the field, and an attendant dude tossed it into the stands from right field. But guess what? Roger somehow managed to snag that precious ball.
“We snagged the ball,” Roger declared after the Twins’ 4-3 victory.
He spilled the tea that one of his buddies peeped where the attendant tossed the ball, and then that buddy swooped in and brought the fan and their fam up to Roger’s box.
The seven-time Cy Young Award winner spilled that he took a selfie with the fan and plans to send them some goodies.
“It was like, so wild,” Debbie spilled about the shenanigans they pulled in the box. “It was just awesome being here to witness his first game.”
Kody, who is 28, is currently in his fourth season in the MLB and was previously riding the bench with the Phillies before they gave him the boot in April.
The Twins scooped up Kody’s contract on April 26, and he’s already suited up for five games with the squad.
